This month has been a string of Film related debuts!! Ok, not a long string.. a short one consisting of two knots!!
So alongside recording tracks for this EP ( which I think I've finally titled! :)- have I said that already some where? ) Anyway... alongside EP recording and producing.. I've also found myself writing for film scripts... No, it ain't Hollywood stylee... but it's blooming close as far as I'm concerned!! It's a short, "Misled by Beauty" by French Director Alice Dollé Nicol and I'm honoured to have been invited to be part of it!! I probably shouldn't be blabbing on about it as details aren't quite out yet!! (Let's call this an exclusive! and that's why it's good to be on this particular blog-trail!) Release isn't for a few more months, and as soon as deets are known, I'll let you know where to go find!!
Knot two... Went for an audition... just for the heck of it.. and have been cast in an independent!! It's a small role.. but you'll get to see my face on screen for more than a few hot minutes!! Filming doesn't kick off till mid next month (October) but I am very excited about it!
Gosh, I feel like one a Beyonce!!! LOL!! All this acting, singing, dancing, prancing and movie soundtracking got me feeling all ... I don't know.. insert word (............) there!
That's it for now Folks!!

Recording The EP begins!
This weekend I went into Central London (west central to be more specific), walked into a room said hi to the incredible being that was about to record me and began the process of laying down a stack of tracks for what's going to be a freaking phenomenal EP! Yeay!!
Was a lot of fun, I have to admit. It's a wonder we actually got anything done! Matt G.(Gush Studios) has been an absolute pleasure to work with, and no doubt he'll continue to be! My girls Audra and Mandisa came through for me and have already begun to sprinkle their magic over it all , starting with 'Who Am I' which is already sounding delectable and we've only laid down lead, bvs and rhythm guitar! no bass, drums or anything else.. so you can only imagine what it's gonna sound like when it's done!! whooop!!
Or at least I hope so. There is always that thing of sometimes, expression gets lost in translation.. and sometimes it just doesn't sound the same once it's out of your head.. but I'm gonna try to avoid that!!
It's an issue though. I ain't gonna lie! Sometimes you can't stop the mind from clicking over, or the ideas flooding in.. oooh, maybe we could do it like this, and then have a bit of that in ... but that means we'll need to get a so and so in.. that could be... well you get the picture. And then I remember... if you put too many ingredients into a pot it won't necessarily make the food taste sweet! And with that in mind, I've decided to keep this particular musical dish as simple as possible.. but you know I'm a Naija babe, which means I like peppe' so rest assured the EP's gonna be HOT!!
Still a lot that needs doing, and I'll have to get my ass in gear if I'm gonna call in the rest of the troops to help me pull this together. You know musicians... always busy doing one project or another... so, I'll have to blackmail them with promises of fun, laughter, candy, wine and simply great company!!
Oh, and there's the question of how many tracks should I put on the EP? I had a number in mind, then I thought.. nah, can't be bothered, then I thought but I should be and then I thought... but I also want to add another track over all... and so the mystery becomes... how many tracks in all will be on this EP?? Guess we'll all ( myself included) just have to wait and see!!

Final Countdown...
Happy Monday Everybody!! ( although technically it is Tuesday, I know this). So after much build up, I am finally placing the pieces of the musical puzzle together for recording my debut master piece EP!! Can anyone remember what EP stands for, without the use of Wiki or Google??! ( fine, we're just so dependent ... )
Admittedly, it has been a lot more long winded than everyone would have you believe! Pressing forward with a project, no matter how small, if you're doing it alone/ with minimal ground support can be freaking weighty! Especially in London when everyone you know who would like to help are busy buzzing around like worker bees. Actually, I really ought to round them all up, and lull them into believing I'm the centre of their universe, le queen bee damn it!! You never know... it could work!!
And worse yet, when you yourself have no real clue!!
So, let me for the sake of my own general sanity remind myself of how I've reached this point of, I'd like to say no return, but that would be an exaggeration... nevertheless; no return!
1) spent ages trying to figure out how to operate cubase 6. Why did I get 6 when I don't even know how to operate the record function on my mobile phone properly? Answer: Coz I was hoping that technology would be so far advanced with Cubase 6 that all I'd have to do is plug it in and the entire recording process including drums, keyboards, percussion, brass and strings that I keep hearing would be transposed onto Cubase via the simple process of thought. I was heavily mistaken! And so began the painful journey of tryna get the damn thing to actually record.
Great!! I discovered I needed proper monitors, a decent mic and an eternal audio interface just to get this thing functioning! Pfff... Why is it so hard?!!
2) All things purchased and connected.. I think to my self; let the recording begin.. And it kinda did, that is until I pressed a button which meant for a week I was unable to record anything. Then to the rescue via facebook chat came Engine Earz Prashant Mistry to the rescue. A few more tweeks, and I was able to record again!!
3) Many Many attempts and I finally recorded the first skeleton of LoveLight. although the vocals sound slightly warped as I discovered teh reverb button and gain and another thing that distorts the sound wave, and then couldn't quite revert it back to what it was! ooops !! But at least something is recorded right?!! And so continued the process.. working out the key signature, tempo and recording/singing - very irritating I have to say, although a totally tropical necessity. 5 skeleton tracks which have been shipped out to my newly converted worker bees, who are gonna help me make this EP one which will make me wanna make an LP!!
Anyway, pieces together, 5 tracks and counting ( think I'll throw one more in for good measure) and I will be heading in to the studio to record an acoustic record :) Very much looking forward to this!!
Singer (me) and Backing Vocalists ( inc. the awesome Audra Nishita ) have been provided with tracks and lyrics :) and even though my bassist has kinda gone AWOL, it's all good... coz I believe and have faith in the fact that I'll be able to rope in talents from else where if my Mr. Bass fails to emerge and work his magic!
So, will do my very bestest to update daily on happenings on le recording and prep front. shouldn't find it too boring, and if ya do.. well, just pretend it's not!!

Let the Bloggin Commence
How exciting is this?? Looks like I've gone and got myself a blogsite page thing!! Thanks to the wonderwoman www.toshaalbor.com, without whom this would so not be operational... as I'm pretty slack at this kinda thing!
Anyhow.. let's see. What do I have to say that could be of interest to you?? Truth... Not that much really.
Although, I will try my best to keep this updated with even more joyousness from me and other equally talented souls!
Welcome on this, bound to be Exceptional Ride!!
