Final Countdown...

Happy Monday Everybody!! ( although technically it is Tuesday, I know this). So after much build up, I am finally placing the pieces of the musical puzzle together for recording my debut master piece EP!! Can anyone remember what EP stands for, without the use of Wiki or Google??! ( fine, we're just so dependent ... )

Admittedly, it has been a lot more long winded than everyone would have you believe! Pressing forward with a project, no matter how small, if you're doing it alone/ with minimal ground support can be freaking weighty! Especially in London when everyone you know who would like to help are busy buzzing around like worker bees. Actually, I really ought to round them all up, and lull them into believing I'm the centre of their universe, le queen bee damn it!! You never know... it could work!!
And worse yet, when you yourself have no real clue!!

So, let me for the sake of my own general sanity remind myself of how I've reached this point of, I'd like to say no return, but that would be an exaggeration... nevertheless; no return!

1) spent ages trying to figure out how to operate cubase 6. Why did I get 6 when I don't even know how to operate the record function on my mobile phone properly? Answer: Coz I was hoping that technology would be so far advanced with Cubase 6 that all I'd have to do is plug it in and the entire recording process including drums, keyboards, percussion, brass and strings that I keep hearing would be transposed onto Cubase via the simple process of thought. I was heavily mistaken! And so began the painful journey of tryna get the damn thing to actually record.

Great!! I discovered I needed proper monitors, a decent mic and an eternal audio interface just to get this thing functioning! Pfff... Why is it so hard?!!

2) All things purchased and connected.. I think to my self; let the recording begin.. And it kinda did, that is until I pressed a button which meant for a week I was unable to record anything. Then to the rescue via facebook chat came Engine Earz Prashant Mistry to the rescue. A few more tweeks, and I was able to record again!!

3) Many Many attempts and I finally recorded the first skeleton of LoveLight. although the vocals sound slightly warped as I discovered teh reverb button and gain and another thing that distorts the sound wave, and then couldn't quite revert it back to what it was! ooops !! But at least something is recorded right?!! And so continued the process.. working out the key signature, tempo and recording/singing - very irritating I have to say, although a totally tropical necessity. 5 skeleton tracks which have been shipped out to my newly converted worker bees, who are gonna help me make this EP one which will make me wanna make an LP!!

Anyway, pieces together, 5 tracks and counting ( think I'll throw one more in for good measure) and I will be heading in to the studio to record an acoustic record :) Very much looking forward to this!!

Singer (me) and Backing Vocalists ( inc. the awesome Audra Nishita ) have been provided with tracks and lyrics :) and even though my bassist has kinda gone AWOL, it's all good... coz I believe and have faith in the fact that I'll be able to rope in talents from else where if my Mr. Bass fails to emerge and work his magic!

So, will do my very bestest to update daily on happenings on le recording and prep front. shouldn't find it too boring, and if ya do.. well, just pretend it's not!!

X
